Hobby: Writing wacky songs and poetry and writing novels about mermaids

Vacation spot: Let's just say he's probably the only Nebraskan with an annual pass to Disneyland

On Mike's nightstand: The novel version of The Settlers of Catan by Rebecca Gable 

Sports team: Oakland A's and San Francisco 49ers

Cartoon character: Goofy (he's a genius)

Top bad habit (that's worth sharing): I love pizza!!!! It's a bad habit because I'm totally OCD about pizza. I'd marry it if I could.

Holiday: Christmas 

Holiday other than Christmas: 4th of July 

Favorite firework: Anything with a loud bang. It's all about the noise!

Household chore: Organizing books 

Least favorite chore: Cleaning the fridge!

Craziest concert story: The craziest concert experience was when a troop of scouts got onstage and started kicking me and the band. We were very nice about it. We are the pirates of nice, after all. Fortunately, we did another scout show and this group was very nice about it, which is good. Otherwise we'd hate scouts.

Dream concert location: Disneyland! I would love to play there for two weeks, so I could say “as seen at Disneyland.” 

Class to teach: Ancient Western Literature or Biblical literature. Does that mean I'm a nerd?  

Beverage: Hot chocolate 

Mike’s mission in life: To put a smile on every face, and that includes the grumpy man at the bus stop. Also, Mike wants to inspire kids across the country—make that the continent—to gain an interest in poetry.
