Mike Mennard is a children’s poet, songwriter, professor, recording artist, and all-around silly person. He moved to Nebraska from California with his family in 2003 “kicking and screaming,” but then he fell in love with Nebraska’s history, places to explore and even the weather. He shares this love for his new home state in the album We’ve Got It all in Nebraska, which is the Nebraska unit curriculum for 4th grade students.

Mike works actively with the Nebraska Arts Council Touring Artist Program in an effort to share his passion for Nebraska and literacy. Through this program students have the opportunity to participate in Mike’s “poetry-to-song” or Nebraska history classes.

When he’s not singing for children’s audiences around Nebraska, Mike teaches English and literature at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.  “I have the best job in the world,” says Mike.  “I help college students fall in love with literature, and I sing and share my love of literacy with elementary-age kids.”

Mike shares his wacky songs at schools, camps, libraries, conferences, fairs. . . just about anywhere!

Mike lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, with his stunningly beautiful wife, Michelle, and his precocious twelve-year-old son, Ramsey.
