Mike’s favorite vacation spot: Let’s just say he’s probably the only Nebraskan with an annual pass to Disneyland.
Mike’s education: He has his M.A. in English from Sonoma State University.
Mike’s day job: He is a professor of English and communications at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.
On Mike’s night stand: This week, Mike is reading the collected poetry of Wallace Stevens and It’s Raining Pigs and Noodles by Jack Prelutsky.
Mike’s favorite sports team: He’s a die-hard Oakland A’s fan, which means he often “dies hard.”

Mike’s favorite cartoon character: Goofy.
Mike’s mission in life: To put a smile on every face, and that includes the grumpy man at the bus stop. Also, Mike wants to inspire kids across the country—make that the continent—to gain an interest in poetry.
